About This Site

Top Anti-Aging Face publishes long-term, one-product-at-a-time notes on anti-aging skincare for women over 45: retinol serums, vitamin C serums, peptide serums, retinol night creams and at-home LED face masks. Every product is used for at least eight weeks before anything is written, and we say plainly when something irritated, disappointed or simply did nothing.

Skin Safety

Skincare products can irritate skin. Patch test every new serum, cream or treatment on a small area, such as along the jaw, for a few days before using it on your whole face, and stop if you notice burning, swelling, a rash or lasting redness.

Retinol and other retinoids can cause dryness, peeling and sun sensitivity. Start slowly, use them at night, wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen every day, and do not use them while pregnant, trying to conceive or breastfeeding unless a doctor says otherwise. Avoid combining several strong actives on the same night.

LED face masks are not suitable for everyone. Check with a doctor first if you are sensitive to light, take medication that increases light sensitivity, have a history of seizures, or have an eye condition. Follow the manufacturer's session times and never use a device over broken or irritated skin.
